Areas We Serve: Concrete Contractor Across Waterloo Region
Sila Concrete Contracting is a local concrete contractor working from our base on Glasgow Street in Kitchener, with most of our projects in Cambridge. We pour driveways, patios, floors, foundations and commercial flatwork for homes and businesses across Waterloo Region, Guelph and Brantford.
Looking for a concrete contractor near you? If your property is within about a 45-minute drive of Cambridge, we can almost certainly help, and 12+ years on local job sites means we know each town's permit office, soils and housing stock.
Our Base and Travel Radius
Our office is in Kitchener, about 20 minutes from central Cambridge, and our crews spend most of their week on Cambridge job sites. From there we travel up to about 45 minutes in any direction, reaching Guelph to the northeast, Brantford to the south and Wilmot Township to the west.
Jobs near the edge of the radius are grouped by area where possible. That lets us book site visits on the same day and keep pour days efficient, which helps keep your price down.
Spring and early summer book up fastest across the region, especially for driveways and patios. If you are farther from Cambridge, getting your quote in over the winter or early spring gives us the most flexibility to schedule your pour alongside other nearby jobs.
Towns With Dedicated Pages
Each of these towns has its own page covering local neighbourhoods, permit rules and the work we do most often there.
| Town | Typical drive from Cambridge | Common requests | Local permit authority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Concrete contractor in Cambridge | Our main service area | Driveways, steps, patios, floors | City of Cambridge |
| Concrete contractor in Kitchener | 15 to 25 minutes | Driveways, basement floors, walkways | City of Kitchener |
| Concrete contractor in Waterloo | 20 to 30 minutes | Patios, driveways, commercial flatwork | City of Waterloo |
| Concrete contractor in Guelph | 25 to 35 minutes | Driveways, patios, garage floors | City of Guelph |
| Concrete contractor in Wilmot Township | 25 to 35 minutes | Shop floors, slabs, farm pads | Township of Wilmot |
| Concrete contractor in Brantford | 25 to 35 minutes | Driveways, steps, repairs | City of Brantford |
Housing stock varies a lot across these towns, and it shapes the work. Century homes in older cores tend to need careful step and walkway replacement around stone foundations, while newer subdivisions are more likely to call for wider driveways, backyard patios and finished basement floors.

Other Communities We Travel To
Beyond the six core towns, we travel to smaller communities inside our 45-minute radius. Common stops include Ayr, Paris, Elmira, St. Jacobs, Breslau and Puslinch.
We also take on projects in Milton and parts of Hamilton when the site is within about 45 minutes of Cambridge. Rural properties are welcome too, from farm shop slabs to long country driveways.
On rural jobs we plan around wells, septic beds and soft laneways before the ready-mix truck arrives. Longer hauls sometimes call for a retarding admixture so the concrete stays workable on the drive out.
Not sure whether your address qualifies? Include it with your quote request and we will confirm right away.
Permit Rules Change at Every Town Line
Concrete work that widens a driveway, touches the road allowance or involves a structure usually needs approval, but who grants it depends on where you live. Here is where each approval typically comes from.
| Authority | What it typically approves |
|---|---|
| City of Cambridge | Driveway widening and curb cuts through Transportation (7 m maximum residential driveway width), boulevard work and building permits |
| City of Kitchener | Curb cuts, driveway changes in the road allowance and building permits |
| City of Waterloo | Curb cuts, boulevard work and building permits |
| City of Guelph | Driveway widening and curb cuts, with zoning limits on driveway width, plus building permits |
| Township of Wilmot | Entrance permits on township roads and building permits in Baden, New Hamburg and rural areas |
| City of Brantford | Curb cuts, driveway approvals and building permits |
| Region of Waterloo | New or changed entrances onto regional roads, such as Hespeler Road in Cambridge |
| Grand River Conservation Authority | Work on regulated properties near the Grand, Speed, Nith and Eramosa rivers |
Under the 2024 Ontario Building Code, poured foundations need a building permit, as do retaining walls over 1 m high beside public property or a building entrance. We confirm the requirements for your address during the quote and handle the applications when they are needed.
