About Our Company

About Sila Concrete Contracting, Concrete Contractors in Cambridge

Sila Concrete Contracting is built around a simple belief: get the base, the mix and the finishing right, and a slab will serve your property for decades. From our base in Kitchener we work for homeowners, builders and property managers, with most of our projects in Cambridge.

Over 12+ years and more than 600 jobs, we have become known for flat, durable concrete floors, driveways that stand up to salt and frost, and decorative outdoor work that still looks sharp years later. We take on residential and commercial projects alike, and a basement floor gets the same care as a warehouse slab.

Our Story and the Work We Focus On

Sila Concrete Contracting has spent more than 12 years pouring, finishing and repairing concrete across Cambridge, Kitchener and the surrounding towns. Today our concrete services run from driveways, walkways and patios to foundations, retaining walls and commercial concrete for builders and property managers.

Concrete floor installation became our priority service because floors demand the most precision. A good floor has to be flat enough for racking or vinyl plank, protected from ground moisture by a vapour barrier and finished to the right texture, and that detailed work is where our crew shines.

Concrete is our whole business. Every project is formed, reinforced, placed and finished by people who work with concrete every day, not by a general crew that pours a few slabs a year.

How Our Crew Works

A concrete job is only as good as its weakest stage. These are the three stages where we put our experience to work on every project.

Estimating and planning

Your quote comes from someone who knows concrete, not a call centre. Measurements, grades, drainage and truck access are checked on site before a number goes on paper.

Forming and base prep

Excavation, compaction and formwork decide how long a slab will last. This is where shortcuts hide, so we check depths and grades before any truck is called.

Placing and finishing

Finishers screed, float and trowel or texture the surface during the short window fresh concrete allows. Reading the weather and the mix comes from years of pours.

Licences, Insurance and WSIB Coverage

Ontario does not issue a general licence for concrete contractors, so it is fair to ask any company what "licensed" actually means. For us, it means operating as a properly registered business, carrying commercial general liability insurance and keeping WSIB coverage for our workers.

WSIB coverage protects you if a worker is injured on your property, which is a risk homeowners often overlook. You can check our status with a clearance certificate lookup at wsib.ca, or we will send one before your project starts.

Commercial clients can request a certificate of insurance with their company named as additional insured. Coverage limits are listed on the certificate we provide.

The Standards We Build To

Good intentions are not a specification. We build to published codes and standards and write the key numbers into every quote.

Ontario Building Code 2024

Foundations, footings and steps follow the 2024 Ontario Building Code, Ontario Regulation 163/24, which has applied to new permit applications since April 2025.

CSA A23.1 and A23.2

These national standards cover concrete materials, exposure classes, placing, curing and testing. Exterior flatwork is specified to exposure class C-2 for salt and freeze-thaw.

Ontario One Call

Every dig starts with utility locates, so gas, hydro and fibre lines are marked before excavation begins.

Suppliers and Products We Trust

We order ready-mix from established Waterloo Region plants and specify strength, air content and slump for every load. A nearby certified plant means consistent concrete and short haul times, which matters on a hot summer pour.

For finishing and protection we use proven systems: breathable penetrating sealers for exterior slabs, crystalline waterproofing such as Xypex for below-grade work, and repair mortars and admixtures from manufacturers like Sika and Euclid. We choose products to suit the job, never to push a particular brand.

Neatly cleaned site after new concrete walkway in Kitchener

How We Treat Your Property

Concrete work is heavy, but your lawn and gardens shouldn't pay for it. We lay plywood ground protection where trucks and wheelbarrows cross grass, shield siding and foundations from splatter, and keep materials contained.

Every quote lists the specification in writing, so you know the thickness, mix, base and reinforcement before you sign. The site is cleaned at the end of each day, and we walk the finished job with you before we call it done.

Our written workmanship warranty covers defects in how we installed the concrete. We explain what it does and doesn't cover, such as normal hairline shrinkage cracks, before you commit.
