Concrete Driveways
A driveway that shrugs off road salt, snowplows and a loaded pickup for decades, poured on a compacted Granular A base.
Cambridge, Ontario
Sila Concrete Contracting is a residential and commercial concrete contractor serving Cambridge and the rest of Waterloo Region. We form, pour and finish driveways, patios, floors, slabs, foundations and steps, and we repair and protect the concrete you already have.
Our customers are homeowners in Galt, Preston and Hespeler, plus property managers, builders and general contractors who need flatwork done to spec and on schedule. Every job gets a written quote, a written mix and base specification, and a crew that cleans up before it leaves.
With 12+ years in the trade and 600+ jobs completed, we know how concrete fails in Ontario and how to build it so it lasts. We are licensed, insured and WSIB covered, and we are happy to prove it before anyone sets foot on your property.
From the driveway at the curb to the patio out back, we handle the full range of residential concrete in Cambridge. Pick the project you are planning to see how we build it, what drives the price and which finishes suit it.

A textured, slip-resistant surface with natural stone showing, ideal for sloped driveways and busy entries.
A level, well-drained outdoor room sized for your furniture, barbecue and the way your family actually uses the yard.
A cool, grippy surround that sheds splash water away from the pool and stays put through spring thaw.
A safe path from driveway to front door or around to the backyard, with gentle slopes and no trip edges.
Solid front and back steps with even risers that stop the rocking, settling and crumbling for good.
A flat, reinforced base for a shed, hot tub, air conditioner or gazebo that will not heave out of level.
A garage floor that drains toward the door, resists salty slush and gives you a clean surface to work on.
Poured walls that hold back a slope, create usable terraces and keep soil off your driveway or patio.

Concrete floors are our priority service, and they get our most experienced finishers. We install basement floors, workshop and garage slabs, warehouse floors and polished concrete for homes and businesses.
Every interior slab starts with a vapour barrier, typically 10 mil polyethylene with taped seams, so ground moisture does not wick up into your flooring. We set grades with laser levels and finish to the flatness the space needs, whether that is a basement ready for vinyl plank or a shop floor for racking.
Finishes range from a smooth steel trowel to a sealed, ground or fully polished surface. See how we handle concrete floor installation from subgrade to curing, or explore polished concrete floors for a glossy, low-maintenance option.

Property managers, facility teams and general contractors in Cambridge need a concrete sub who arrives with the paperwork in order and pours to the drawings. We deliver parking lot panels, barrier curbs, sidewalks, loading dock aprons, barrier-free ramps and industrial slabs.
We work to CSA A23.1, coordinate cylinder testing with your testing firm and stage pours around tenants, deliveries and business hours. WSIB clearance and insurance certificates are sent before we mobilize.
Visit our commercial concrete contractor page for scope, scheduling and RFQ details.
Not every tired slab needs to be torn out. If the concrete is structurally sound, repair or resurfacing usually costs a fraction of replacement; if it is heaving, crumbling through its depth or cracked across many panels, replacing it is the better spend.
We rout and fill cracks, patch spalled edges and rebuild broken step noses with polymer-modified mortars. Our concrete repair work stops small damage before freeze-thaw makes it bigger.
A bonded overlay hides salt scaling, pop-outs and stains on a sound slab and leaves a fresh, uniform surface. Concrete resurfacing can add years to a driveway or patio.
Sunken walkways, garage aprons and patio slabs can often be raised with polyurethane foam injection and used the same day. Ask about concrete lifting and leveling.
A breathable penetrating sealer slows salt and water damage outdoors, while crack injection and membranes keep basements dry. See concrete sealing and concrete waterproofing.
Broom finish is the most affordable and slip-resistant choice, stamped gives the most decorative look, and exposed aggregate balances grip, texture and durability. Colour can be added to any of them.
| Finish | Look | Slip resistance | Maintenance | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Broom finish driveways | Clean, uniform grey with fine texture lines | High, even when wet | Seal every 2 to 3 years | $ (baseline) |
| Stamped concrete | Slate, flagstone or wood plank pattern | Moderate; add grit to the sealer | Reseal every 2 to 3 years to protect colour | $$$ |
| Exposed aggregate | Natural pebble and stone texture | High | Seal every 3 to 5 years | $$ |
| Coloured and stained concrete | Earth tones through the mix or as a stain | Depends on the surface texture | Reseal to keep colour rich | $$ to $$$ |
For a busy family driveway, broom or exposed aggregate usually wins on practicality. For a backyard patio where looks matter most, stamped and coloured concrete deliver the most curb appeal per dollar.
Concrete in Cambridge goes through dozens of freeze-thaw cycles each winter, plus months of road salt. Our exterior work is built for both, using a specification we write into every quote.
Most failed driveways we replace in the region were poured too thin, on too little base or without entrained air. Those three shortcuts save a little on pour day and cost a lot within five winters.
Call 226-895-3039 or send a few photos, and we will reply with a written quote that spells out the full spec.
Most residential projects take one to two weeks from signed quote to finished surface, weather permitting. Here is what happens along the way.
We measure, check grades and drainage, and talk through finishes. Your written quote lists thickness, mix, base depth, reinforcement and exactly what is included.
We book utility locates through Ontario One Call and advise on any city approvals, such as a curb cut or a wider driveway.
Old concrete or asphalt is broken out and hauled away. We then excavate, grade and compact the Granular A base and set the forms.
Ready-mix arrives to spec and the crew places, screeds and finishes the slab in your chosen texture. Control joints are cut the same day or the next morning.
We protect the fresh concrete while it cures, then walk the job with you. Expect foot traffic in about 24 to 48 hours and vehicles after about 7 days.
Each service page breaks the process down for that type of work, including our pages on concrete patios and concrete foundations.
Hiring an uninsured crew can leave you liable if someone is hurt on your property. We carry liability insurance and WSIB coverage, and we share proof before work begins.

Each Cambridge neighbourhood brings its own conditions, and our approach changes with them. These are the kinds of jobs we take on most often across the city.
Older homes near the Grand River often have narrow lots, mature trees and original steps that have settled over the decades. A typical job here is a new front walkway and poured steps, formed to meet existing stone or brick and finished with a broom texture.
Many postwar bungalows in Preston still have original single-car driveways that have cracked and sunk. We usually remove the old slab, deepen the Granular A base and pour a wider 32 MPa air-entrained driveway with rebar and fresh control joints.
Newer subdivisions around Hespeler see a lot of backyard upgrades. Stamped or exposed aggregate patios, pool surrounds and side walkways are common, often paired with a matching garage apron.
Cambridge is our main focus, and we work anywhere within about a 45-minute drive of the city. That covers all of Waterloo Region plus Guelph and Brantford.

A new broom finish concrete driveway in Cambridge typically costs $12 to $18 per square foot installed, or roughly $7,500 to $11,000 for a standard 600 sq ft two-car driveway. The biggest price drivers are removal of the old driveway, base depth and site access, and the finish you choose. Our concrete driveways page explains each factor.
Yes. We pour driveways, patios and basement floors for homeowners, and parking lot panels, curbs and warehouse slabs for property managers and builders. Commercial clients can find scope and RFQ details on our commercial concrete page.
Late April to early November is the ideal window, when temperatures stay above about 5°C. We can pour in colder months using heated enclosures, insulated blankets and accelerating admixtures, following CSA A23.1 cold-weather practice. Booking over the winter also gets you a better choice of spring dates.
Yes, we are fully insured and registered with WSIB. We will send a WSIB clearance certificate and proof of liability insurance before pour day, so you are never exposed if an accident happens on your property.
Replacing a driveway in the same footprint usually does not need a permit in Cambridge. Widening it or adding a new curb cut needs approval from the City's Transportation division, and residential driveways are generally capped at 7 m wide. We check the rules for your lot and handle the application when one is needed.
